I need some help and I thought my readers may be able to steer me in the right direction. Here's the poll question:
Do you take your shower at night or in the morning?
I keep going back and forth. I would prefer to take my shower when I get out of bed in the mornings but I have to get up at 5am to fix Keith's breakfast, lunch, and coffee for the road. He is gone by 6am so in order to shower, I'd have to get up before 5. I can barely function getting up when I do, so I know I couldn't handle any earlier. (Or maybe I could? Feel free to point out any selfishness on my part here!) Taking it at night IS more convenient but I never feel "woken up" the next day. One compromise I'm considering is getting up at my normal time but taking my shower at 7 or so. I'll have some tasks from 6-7 like cleaning up the kitchen from breakfast, making the bed, etc. but the bulk of my day will take place after my shower, when I am more awake. Please share your thoughts on this! Have any of your husbands had to get up at a ridiculously early hour for work? (Right now, Keith is up before me, between 4:30-4:45.) Besides showering, I'd also be interested in hearing how you manage breakfast at that early of an hour. Thanks! I'm looking forward to seeing what you have to say since I need to figure out what works for me.

I used to struggle with this. My hubby use to leave around 6, but now leaves around 5:50. I got lucky and he said that eating before he left was too much too early. I now make his lunch and breakfast before we go to bed at night. He then arrives at work early enough to eat. Works better for both of us.
Before he started taking his breakfast to work, I would not shower until after he left. I would get up make breakfast, clean up, make the bed and then shower.
Sorry for the long post. Hope this helps.
I like to take my shower first thing in the morning, but that is me and I'm an early morning sort of person. My husband doesn't usually go to work that early. The few times that he has left really early, I got up, packed his lunch and made him a quick breakfast that could be eaten on his way as he doesn't like to eat first thing anyways. Then I showered after he left.
I would suggest that you get as much prepared the night before as possible-lunch in the fridge that just needs to be put in the lunch box in the morning and have breakfast items as ready as you can, depending on what you guys eat. I would wait and shower after he left for work, since it is so very early!
While I would love to be able to take my showers at night, like you I just don't feel awake in the mornings if I do. I wait until hubby leave for work and take my showers then. Ann
I would wait and shower after he left too.
To make things easier you could prepare certain breakfast items the night before. For instance I like to make crustless quiches and baked oatmeal and that will be what we eat for breakfast for most of the week. Although I know some men don't like to eat left-overs....my husband doesn't mind. (o:
I too wait and have my shower after hubby's gone.
Although my hubby's up at 7 to leave at 7:35 and I am usually up at 6:15 to prepare his breakfast and to make him a packed lunch.
Blessings.
I wait until he is gone to shower, too. I know I would like for him to see me already washed and dressed, not handing him his coffee with hair sticking straight up, rumpled pajamas, and my Piglet (from Winnie the Pooh) slippers on my feet. However, he said that he doesn't know anyone in his acquaintence who has a wife who gets up in the morning and fixes him anything and he is just happy that it happens when my circumstances allow, and he doesn't mind if I am a little out of it. I try to fix things the night before, too. Love your blog...I will be stopping by again.
My husband leaves at 5:30 and I usually take my shower about an hour after he leaves. If I take a shower before I go to bed I still have to take one in the morning to feel fresh. I usually eat breakfast around 8:00, after I take my shower and after breakfast I start my chores and errands.
I shower before hubby leaves. I think you had a great idea, though, waiting till he left before you showered, that way you could still get his breakfast done, etc., without having to get up too early for you!
I tried to leave a comment earlier, but it didn't go through, so trying again!
I shower before my husband leaves (out of necessity . .. I have three young children and wouldn't be able to get a shower during the day). But, I think you had a wise idea to wait until after he leaves, that way you wouldn't have to get up too early for you!
I shower at night, it works better for me to shower when the little ones are asleep. The only time I shower in the mornings is the week it's 'that time of the month'. My hubby leaves for work about 7.15am but my little ones rise early so I get up, say my prayers, fix breakfast, and then take hubby's breakfast up to him...and so on (lol I won't list my whole schedule). If you prefer to shower at night, but like to be woken up perhaps a cold splash of water on your face at the sink in the morning, it's supposed to be great for the skin.
I came over from Mrs B's link to your site. :)
My husband doesn't like to eat early in the morning, so he has a protein shake before he leaves, that makes it much easier for me! I do pack his lunch and lay out all clothes the night before. Most days I take 2 showers; one at night to be fresh before bed, then a quick one in the morning to wake myself up and wash my hair. My hair style looks bests when freshly washed.
